Why do we perform a bike fit?

At SIM Physiotherapy we provide a full Physio Bike Fit at Frenchs Forest and Macquarie Park. Our bike fit is of the highest quality to help enhance your cycling performance and reduce the risk of injury.

Our Physiotherapist Reece Jones has completed his ‘level 1 and 2 Physio Bike Fit Course’ under Paul Visentini. Paul has previously worked with Cycling Australia and the professional cycling teams such as lotto. Reece combines his clinical experience of Physiotherapy and bike fit skills to ensure this is not your ordinary bike fit.

The bike fit process involves the Physiotherapist assessing the following:

  • Movement analysis

  • Joint range of motion

  • Specific musculoskeletal testing of major muscle groups that are used in cycling

  • Specific body measurements relating to the bike fit

  • Specific measurements of the bike

 Remember

Speed = Comfort, Power and Aerodynamics

When the Physiotherapist has gathered all data, we move the client onto the bike where we perform a video analysis using bike specific software. By using this software we can analyse hip angle, knee angle and ankle/foot angle. From this information we can make necessary adjustments to your bike to ensure the best physical fit for you.

Our Cycling Physiotherapists have the clinical skills and bike-fit expertise to best help with your cycling issues:

  • Back, neck, hip and/or knee pain while cycling

  • Tingling in the hands

  • Inefficient pedalling

  • 2 hour initial consultation followed by a 45 minute follow-up consultation

  • Ensure you bring all cycling wear including top, shorts and cleats

  • Within 1 week of the assessment you will receive a comprehensive report with a summary of our findings including measures taken from the bike and the video analysis. These measures are explained in the report to help you understand any changes that have been made or suggested
