How does the Hip and Knee Program work?

How is the program structured?

Part 1: Assessment (1 hour)

  • The Physiotherapist will conduct a thorough examination that includes a review of your injury history and goals.

  • The Physiotherapist will perform a muscular strength and flexibility assessment:

    • This includes the use of the AxIT Force plates: This is a $16,000 piece of equipment that assists the Physiotherapist in designing a specific individualised program. Please visit https://www.strengthbynumbers.com/axitsystem for more information on this piece of equipment.

  • Based on your examination the Physiotherapist will prescribe a 12-week hip and knee program that is individualised to you and your goals.

Part 2: 1 hour Group Exercise: 45 minute appointment

  • The patient will attend the physio gym 1-2X/week and be guided through a strength and rehabilitation program in a small group of 4-5 people.

  • The program will run for 12 weeks.

  • Each fortnight the patients program is adjusted to ensure they are able to perform their program at home.

Part 3: Review and Re-Evaluate: 1 hour appt

  • To ensure your program is effective you will be re-assessed after 12 weeks. This helps the Physiotherapist explain where improvements have been made, but more importantly guide the patient in where they can progress next in their programming.

  • After each assessment you get a personalised program to help ensure you continue to work on your goals and any deficits that have been identified.
